PWCA: Journey to Annwn

'Overview'

PWCA: Journey to Annwn is a Welsh mythology inspired puzzle game for Android. The puzzles and theming lean heavily into the idea of oneness and connecting with nature. It focuses on a creature named Pwca who uses his special powers to guide Nain on her journey to the afterlife.

This project serves as a demo for this concept, created by the group 'Spicy Tea' as part of a Masters group project at Falmouth.

'Plot'

Pwca, a mischevious shape-shifting creature who has the ability to travel between the real world and Annwn (the 'other world'), comes across the spirit of Nain - a kindly soul who treated Pwca well whilst living - stuck on her journey to the afterlife. 

Due to a disconnect between the living realm and Annwn, Nain is unable to pass on. Using his abilities, Pwca decides to lead her on her journey by solving puzzles and reconnecting the realms.

'Gameplay'

Controlling Pwca, you must navigate through the level whilst solving puzzles that will open up a path for Nain to follow. Nain must make it to the end of the level before you can move on, so don't leave her behind!

Pwca's various forms can be used in different ways, with each having a unique ability and stats that affect the gameplay

Hidden in the Annwn are echo orbs, collectables that in later versions of the game will contain voice clips and other content related to the love of nature and Welsh culture

'How to Play'

This game demo is mobile only and will work on Android devices (or emulators). To play this game, you must first download the APK and then install it onto your phone.

To install external apps often requires a permission to be toggled within the 'special access' section of the settings menu. Ensure this is done before attempting to install as otherwise you may be blocked
